County Hearing Oct 2006 Update

First, THANK YOU to those of you who came to the public hearing last night.

Your presence at these meetings does make a difference! The room was packed (in fact one of the board members was concerned about emergency exits being blocked) And everyone who spoke, you were outstanding!

UPDATE

For those of you who could not make it...

The meeting went smoothly!
- The county listed two clarifying questions, regarding curriculum and an MOU
- Mike Bollhorst (Executive Director, SBP) responded to the questions during a 10 minute presentation
- Dr Farber presented (superintendent, CUHSD),
- Community members spoke (there were many outstanding speakers in favor of SBP)
- The county board asked the CUHSD and the petitioners questions.

The questions that SBP petitioners were asked by the SCCOE board members:

- curriculum – the county board members want to see more details
- administrative staff – the county board members would like us to justify our lean administrative staff
- MOU – memorandum of understanding (an agreement between the county and the petitioners) – the county staff would like us to work on the MOU.

We (the SBP Board) will be responding to their concerns over the next few weeks.

There is one big way you can help SBP now – WRITE!! Before you log off your computer, write a note in support of SBP to the county board members! Below is the SCCOE contact info. There is no direct access to Board Members via email or phone. Please send your email to all three contact persons below and request that your letter be forwarded to all Board Members!
