Charter Petition Decision Update

So far the CUHSD board members and staff have not expressed any concerns or asked any questions regarding the SBP charter petition that was submitted on May 25th!

It could be that NO news is GOOD NEWS… we will find out at the July 13 th public hearing.

The SBP board wants to thank the many of you who have offered to help and have been patiently waiting for us to tell you what we need. Following are the committees that we are, at present, forming. For those of you from whom we have heard, we will be contacting you! Others interested in helping, contact lamberkel@yahoo.com.

High School Curriculum - develop overall high school course sequence and specific curricula for grade 9 in math, science, English, history, Spanish, the arts, and PE.

Middle School Curriculum - develop overall middle school course sequence and specific curricula for grade 6 in math, science, English, history, Spanish, study skills, the arts, and PE.

Human Resources - develop HR policies, teacher recruitment plan, benefits packages, salary scale, job descriptions.

Advisory and Personal Learning Plans - develop outline of 7-year advisory program and detailed curricula for grade 6 & 9 advisory. Develop personal learning plans.

Parent Involvement - develop parent education and orientation, volunteer plan, volunteer job board, school community board.

Intensives - develop our week-long intensives program, create community partnerships and relationships.

Fundraising – develop and implement fundraising program. Research fundraising possibilities for different phases of program development - from start-up to operation. Organize and lead specific fundraising projects and events.

Public Affairs - develop media relations, over all media strategy. Develop, design and produce collateral materials according to need of SBP board. Distribute flyers and other materials as needed.

Outreach - develop and implement plan to recruit students that represent the demographics of CUHSD.

Admissions - develop admissions timeline and protocols, information packets, enrollment process.

Facilities - identify facility needs for SBP and locate possible facilities for the school within the CUHSD attendance area. Research how other charter schools have handled facility development. Research types of relationships SBP can develop with surrounding organizations and institutions to subsidize things that might be missing from SBP facilities that we rent (ie. rec center, labs, library).

Special Education – research and develop details of special education plan.
