May Update

THANK YOU VERY MUCH
TO THOSE OF YOU WHO ATTENDED
THE PUBLIC HEARING
MAY 25th

What a great turnout!  Standing room only…

For those who could not attend – here is a brief summary.
Mike and Kelly gave a 20 minute presentation (actually 23 minutes).  About 25 supporters submitted ‘intent to speak’ cards.  The board allowed 5 of those supporters to speak – they were all fabulous.  Two of the five board members were not present but we will be sending them a script of our presentation.  One board member asked a question, “How many of the schools we used as models served middle and high school students?” Mike answered, “One - PCS.”  There were no other questions from the CUHSD board.
The same board member asked that the staff, when making their recommendation, include pros and cons for the charter petition.

What happens next?
The CUHSD board and staff will review the petition over the next 6 ½ weeks.  We are hopeful that we will be able to work with them during that time to answer all of their questions and address all of their concerns.  By July 13th, the CUHSD staff will have made a recommendation to the board regarding their opinion about whether or not to approve the SBP charter petition.  The CUHSD board will have the opportunity at a public meeting on July 13th to ask the SBP board questions regarding the charter.  It is our goal to have addressed most of their questions and concerns during discussions prior to July 13th.

More ways to help…
Write a letter to the CUHSD board and let them know that you support SBP.  If you need more information regarding how to do this and where to send your letters, email lambertkel@yahoo.com

And…
Attend the meeting on July 13th!  Show the CUHSD Board that you want South Bay Prep as an option for your kids!  Mark July 13th in your calendar today!
