March Update

South Bay Preparatory is a public charter school serving grades 6-12 with a target opening date of September 2007.  Our mission is to prepare, support and inspire a diverse community of students for success at a four-year university and in life.

THANK YOU to everyone who attended the meeting/petition signing at the Campbell Library on March 15^th.  137 people signed the petition!  The requirement is 50% of South Bay Prep’s 1^st year enrollment = 100 signatures!  WE DID IT! 

We will be submitting the petition to the CUHSD board on May 4^th.  Between now and then, we will continue to collect signatures.  One of the factors that the CUHSD considers when evaluating whether to approve or deny the charter is the amount of support from the community.  The district wants to know if there are enough parents who are meaningfully interested in sending their children to South Bay Prep. 

Your signature on the petition will show them that there is enough interest!

If you missed the signature launch on the 15^th, we will have more opportunities for you to sign.

The Charter Petition will be available for you to review and sign at these meetings.

We have also scheduled several in house information meetings between now and May 4^th.  These meetings are an opportunity for interested families to go over the charter in detail with SBP Board members, ask questions and sign the petition.

Thanks again to everyone that was able to attend the meeting on March 15^th.  The next really important meeting will be the Public Hearing with the CUHSD in late May or early June.  We will let you know as soon as it is scheduled (some time after May 4^th).
